My first impression was, “Why so many MMORPG booths”?
Ok…so I went to meet up with Tzeling first and had our lunch. Initially Kinyu and I wanted to go to Jln Silang to have our Beef Ball Noodles. But it was closed and we still have to pay for the 5-mins parking T_T, it was 4 bucks alright….
So after lunch we went down to the 3rd floor of Times Square to see a few cosplayers scattered here and there posing for pictures. I saw a lot of familiar faces, mostly from the Comic Fiesta crowd. Comic Fiesta has a booth there as well, with Kidchan demonstrating her uber drawings skill and Ben (from Powder/ex-Gempak) giving out autographs. After that, we went and check our other booths. To our dismay, there were only MMORPG booths. Now where does “Animation” and “Comics” in Animation, Comics and Games Convention disappear to? If there aren’t gonna be any animation/comics, why do they bother to name the convention as such. I don’t even want to go into the fact that it was held openly, unlike Comic Fiesta. There weren’t much cosplayers also, most are recycled costumes or bad cosplays. I think the only cosplayer which appear to be better than most was the Kyo (King of Fighter) cosplayer who could spark out fire from his hands!! But that’s the only good bits. Oh and I saw a friend’s brother, who was a hired cosplayer for Cabal. Hot guy he is, very much like Daniel Wu.
I also got a shocking news from chibiying who was working at Powder previously. She is out of job now because Powder is pronounced closed. It came as a shock to her because it was very sudden. It came as a shock to me! Cuz they only started promoting the first volume in Comic Fiesta, December. Osamau who went for leave on that fateful announcement day came back the next day to work to find his colleagues packing up their stuff. I must say Tzeling is lucky for not jumping over to Powder…
Before we head off, we passed by this shop call iSocks. I’ve bought a pair of pantyhose from them before, a lot of choice and service was good. I repeat, WAS. This time around, it was “urgh”. The salesgirls who looked like pseudo Harajuku-streetwear fashionista followed me around without saying anything until I went out of the shop. I wonder if they are really hired as a salesperson or a guard. The other ridiculous thing about the shop is, it has 4 outlets along the same row. Two of them side-by-side and the other 2 were just a few shops away. What made my jaw dropped was the fact that the 2 side-by-side shops are ‘members only’ area. To be a member, you gotta make a minimum purchase of RM200 at the 2 non-members shops which sells mainly SOCKS and some Japanese street fashion wannabes clothings. The members only shops sells gothic lolita and punk outfits which I was quite interested to check them out. However, after knowing that only members were allowed to go in, I went quite mad. Who do they think they are? H.Naoto? Sex Pot Revenge? Metamorphose? Baby, the Stars Shine Bright? Heck, even these brands open their arms wide to welcome the customers, not sealing them off! I give them 6 months to open their doors or they could kiss their asses goodbye. C’mon, the dresses they showcase are made out of cheap materials, even their laces are of cheap quality. Urgh. Seeing these eyesore shops made me wanna fly to Japan immediately and feast my eyes on the real deal.

So wads the update? I’ve got myself a full-time job.
I love my carefree life when I was freelancing but reality hits, it’s hard to get payment even when the client is so “nice” and all. Bottom of it, they still refuse to pay up on time. That is the biggest problem I faced during my freelancing days. Other than that, it is hard to find good clients. Some ppl thought that building a website can just be done with a snap of your finger. Thats very stressful. If I have only me to feed, I think freelancing shouldn’t be a bad option. But my rent, bills and stuff are too much to bear alone with that kind of unsteady income…
And so one fine day, I found an ad on The Star Jobs for graphic designer. It is from my favourite cosmetic company. I’ll give you a hint, it starts with an “S”. I went for the interview, they like my work, they want a GD and web person for future plans and in the end I was hired, for a rank that was higher than expected. I was overwhelmed because it’s sort of a dream place to work in ^_^. I had a few offers before that. One of them pays much higher than S company but it is in KL and I hate KL because of it’s terrible traffic and of course, the distance. Furthermore it is not a company that I want to work in.
After a week of work in S company, I know that I can stay there for a long time, unless something really really bad happened or something unexpected happened such as…..erm, better not say. Environment isn’t bad, free parking, product allowance, staff purchase are a few of the plus points. The down points would be the people there or maybe it’s just me. I’m not familiar with working with older people since my 2 prev. companies consisted of very energetic young employees. This one has a mixture of young and old but mostly are more experienced. My dept. only has 2 people, me and another employee who, should be my underling. HOWEVER, I think she thinks that I should be under HER instead. Well I guess in terms of GD, she has more experience than me and I feel that it is a very good place for me to start in. The boss of the dept went for maternity leave and won’t be back until mid-April. Another worker was involved in an accident and could only resume work next week.
Workload wise, it is moderate, much much happier place than NIC, the nearest deadlines are a few days apart, furthest can span up to a month. Blissful. I do feel lost though on the corporate settings cuz I donno how to use the fax-copy-print machine
We don’t get free food in the pantry as well T_T but we do get drinks like Milo and Nescafe. Not everyone is friendly over there. We don’t hang out during lunch or anything so the people are not very much close knitted. I hope at least to gain one or two friends there to ease the environmenta. Sigh.
All in all, I think it’s not a bad place. I hope to get my own workstation soon so I can bring in my figurines to accompany me ><. I hope it wasn’t so far from Kinyu’s house cuz I couldn’t find him for lunch anymore T_T.
Yup! We changed servers and didn’t backup sooooo TADAAAAA!!
Should we even start this back again….Sigh…..
So much memories erased because of stupidity….
How? Hoooowwwwwllll??
