Cool
I reached at 9.50am and miraculously found a parking at the lorong beside the building. When I went up to the 2nd floor, it was already super crowded! Luckily we don’t have to wait long before the staff open the door for us. The throng of ppl dashed in and scurry through the goods.
I was there yesterday but after looking at the cashier counter queue, my colleagues and I decided to go back to the office. The queue was hellish and the crowd was horrendous. Today is better. The cashiers are amazingly fast and I don’t have to wait much although the queue was long.
I must say I found a lot of my size of clothings, this is pretty rare! I’m a size UK12-UK14 and some of their M fits me (must be some kind of lable defect so it ended up in the sale :P)! But don’t go for XDYE brand of clothes cuz their L is like an M -_-. Bought 2 and with the color I adore too! Basically the cutting is a bit smaller, it still fits but it was very tight at the sleeves *sniff. I’m posting them up for sale if anyone is interested. Brand new and with tag! I also recommend Massimo Dutti’s clothes as they feel and look more durable although not as fashionable and could be more expensive. They have loads of Zara and TRF bins and they are at reasonable prices. You should really go for the RM39.90 and above ones as the lower price ones tend to have more defects. But if you don’t mind, the RM9.90 bins have quite a few treasures too, alot of tanks though. There’s a section for jeans too and belts and shoes but I didn’t check those out. Jeans starts from RM79.90.
All in all, I recommend this warehouse sale! I’ll rate it 8/10 for the range of clothes, the distance from my house and effectiveness of cashier counters!
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

Surprised
I was reading a blog post about Alice in Wonderland movie by Tim Burton when it strike a chord to go visit Apple Trailers. I’m so anticipating Alice in Wonderland BTW, and it’s Tim Burton! ANYWAY, so I went to check out Apple Trailers and guess what I saw? A big banner of a movie trailer call ‘The Curious Case of Benjamin Button‘. It took so so long to load the damn trailers *sniff. But it was worthwhile.
The trailers practically tells the whole story in a nutshell, which is about a man whose life starts from age 70, I mean physically. Mentally, he is a child but according to wiki, he was able to speak moments after his birth! So when other ppl began to age, he became younger! It’s a curious case indeed! At the end of the trailer we see a baby @_@ But according to the novel, his life ends as he became a baby and then POOF! He’s disappeared from the face of the earth. Quite sad actually, there’re no remains of you, only memories… As he became younger, he gradually lose interest in his wife (Blanchett) too because she’s aging. Hrm… I wonder if he HAS INTEREST when he was an old man and she was a girl? That would look very bad >_<
The movie stars Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett woohoo! They are back again since Babel. I think they are both very talented actors but maybe because both of them has already their own stereotypical characters imprinted into my head (Tyler vs Queen Elizabeth?), they seem to be quite odd as couples. Well, Cate Blanchett is very elegant IMO and Brad Pitt gives a very bad boy vibe. Aiyo, it’s because whenever I think of Brad Pitt’s best character, I’ll think of Tyler Durden & David Mills (Se7en). And Cate Blanchett is associated with Galadriel in LOTR and Elizabeth. They don’t really blend. But we shall see how this movie goes.
It’s scheduled to release in Christmas in US so we hope that it’ll be released at the same time or soon after!
Be a responsible pet owner, sterilize your cat.

Sad
Last week, I was happily driving to work because there was only 2 working days before the raya hols. As I approach the housing area towards Tmn Paramount, I saw something lying on the ground. I was wearing my glasses and not my contacts so I couldn’t really see clearly what was it. I was very interested to know cuz I was half expecting it to be a road kill but it looks too pure and white to be one. Until I was about 5 meters in front of it, I went ‘OMG!’ and avoided it. It really was a dead animal, a white kitten and with its head stuff crushed into smithereens T_T. It was my first sight of a dead cat T_T and I felt a part of my heart got eaten. I was thinking of Crayon at that time, what if he was hit?! Sigh….
And another sign came up.
I was watching Animal Planet’s ‘Big Cats Diary’ when a very noisy commercial popped up. I was doing some work on my laptop so most of the time I was looking at my computer screen, only listening and taking a few glimpse when something interesting comes up like Half-tail, the leopard chasing food or cubs playing with each other. The commercial was pretty simple. It went meowing non-stop and as it went by, one by one of these ‘meow’ texts fill up the screen. At the end of the commercial, there’s a message which says something like ‘Be a responsible pet owner, sterilize your cat’.
That was yesterday.
THIS MORNING, I saw another white dead cat on the road to work. I was like, what the helllllll. Why are all these signs keep showing up?! CRAYON IS CASTRATED SINCE HE’S 6 MONTHS OLD!!! He has no offsprings! Stop giving me these gruesome sights! Pif.
When I saw the word sterilize, the first thing I thought was to clean my cat. But it doesn’t gel in with the message so I would guess that it has the same meaning as castrate/neuter. Sorry for my poor English, hmph. Ok la, I shall clean u more often Crayon, so don’t die on me T_T. *Sniff.
And here are some pics of Crayon when he was castrated. Poor Crayon was so sedated when we brought him home from the vet. He looked tired and bleh.

Tony Roma’s not worth the hype

So Kinyu’s first paycheck is here and we went on a date at Mid Valley. We’re both tired of thinking of where and what to eat although there’s a ton of choices in Mid Valley alone. So we were walking towards the Gardens via the lower ground center court and saw Tony Roma. We were contemplating weather to eat at Sushi Zanmai (Kinyu wanted to bring me to Sushi Zanmai but he got lost :P) or Roma so in the end we chose Roma since we haven’t been there before.
It was a BIG BIG disappointment.
Let me start from their service. They are very, very slow. They mixed up our orders (Kinyu ordered a Roma serving of ribs but they gave him a lunch portion and insisted that it’s the Roma portion when asked). And they talk back! I was quite geram when the waiter told us that he’s busy taking orders and running back and forth the kitchen. Like hell I care! He should have just apologized and get his butt to bring our food!
Next, the taste. It was nothing special really. The portion was moderate, unlike many ppl who told me that it’s HUGE, fit for two? Quite unlikely. It’s slightly larger than normal portion, say Ola-Ola’s Sirloin steak, OK maybe you donno where’s Ola-Ola (it’s a cosy restaurant that serves western and local dishes at Ipoh Garden East, near Tesco, at the same row as Vicinity Perak, good food + reasonable price), but definitely smaller than Friday’s/Chillis. Kinyu enjoyed his ribs though. But it wasn’t enough for him, so being the nice and pretend-to-eat-lesser gf, I gave half of my share to him. My fried steak was bigger than his ribs and I quite like the sauce that came with it. The steak is too dry for my liking. The thing I like most would be the potato skin. The mash was ok but still prefers Friday’s and 4 years ago’s Sony Ericsson cafeteria. SE’s cafeteria has the BEST mash potatoes IMO. Now they don’t serve it anymore I think.
At the end of the day, we found out that the waiter got our orders wrong because we tally it with the receipt and the table next to us where a guy had the REAL Roma serving of ribs. Sighing, we decided that it’ll be a long time until we visit this restaurant again.
Etude House @ Sunway Pyramid

Ahhhhh!!! I knew it when I saw it advertised on Sunway’s Internal Mailer. This is the Korean cosmetics shop where my Korean friend bought the eyeshadow and nail polish for me last time (I think, but it was written as Étude in the old packaging)! And the image is so not what I have in mind because the packaging that I got last time was quite a serious and simple one, quite like Mac’s. However the color is very striking and lasting. The nail polish is super fast to dry and the color stays very long. She sent 2 colors to me, black and electric blue. None of these colors were available in M’sia that time hahaha. Or maybe I just couldn’t find it. ANYWAYYYYY, the Etude shop is so cute that I can’t help but notice it from far!
At a glance, it’s very PINK and GIRLY but later on I find that the interior is very soothing and not so pink. In fact, it has a cream+white+pink combination and gives a very princess vibe. The brand very much reminds me of Majolica Majorca but I try not to put them together, especially the packaging >_<. I must say that the pricing is slightly lower than MJ’s. But in detailing, Etude fails in giving a longer lasting impression. The testers are not very well maintained so the nail polishes that I tried were very thick and hard to dry. Some of the wordings on the packaging faded as well. Some of them are not very user friendly also (hard to open cases, stuck on the acrylic, etc). I got confused because the testers on the shelves were the same as the testers on the island bar.
The nail polish that I bought was a dark purple with shimmer that cost only RM11.90. And it looks really good hahaha! The eyeshadow pieces were also cheap! RM15 I think, for each. I also bought a lip tint in red. I’ve never used any tint before and the closest to buying one was from Benefit, which would cost me a bomb. And I put it on my lips, it looks cute, it gives a very healthy look. But my complain would be it’s too sticky, it felt like drinking coke and not wiping my mouth. It’s quite lasting though so maybe I’ll try to put clear gloss over the tint and see if it’ll continue to irritate me. I was tempted to buy the cream blusher which looked like my favourite blusher (it’s already extinct, bought in 100yen shop for RM4.90) effect but I couldn’t make up my mind on which color to get. The pink and orange has a glowing shimmer effect and the red has a matte but darker color effect. I like red’s color but I like the pink/orange’s glow. So in the end I didn’t buy any of it cuz the shop was about to close.
I’ll definitely pay another visit to the shop cuz it’s so lovely and I would want to spend more time to look at what they have to offer. Unfortunately, they do not have a product booklet. They do have a skincare line as well but I’m not really keen on that part. I do hope that they’ll produce a product booklet so that potential customers can get more knowledge on what Etude have to offer.

The old packaging that I received from my Korean friend when I was 16?

Love the new box and the bottle design!
The Red Tortoises & Peaches Are Back!

Happy
When I was small, at this time of the year, every year, I would anticipate this season to come. The attack of the red tortoises! They come with peaches too! This season is call ‘The Festival of the 9th Celestial Duke’ (9 Wong Yeh Tan).
In Ipoh, we have this temple called Tow Bow Keong, which is situated at Jalan Tokong, just opposite of Methodist Girl School. This is by far the busiest temple during this festival. This is the season where my grand-aunts and grand-uncles busy themselves with cooking and sales as they have their own stall placed at the temple. They only serve vegetarian and desserts like red bean soup (omg their red bean soup is DA BEST! cuz it serves with dried tangerine peels *drool). And at the outside of the temple are the stalls that sells these buns in the shape of red tortoises and peaches. People would buy these as offerings to the 9th Celestial Duke but I’m not sure why. In fact, I don’t know what this festival is for and why do we pray to this dude, I mean Duke.
One thing I remember when I enter this temple last time was, we are urged to go under the altar in a circle to so-call, wash away our sins and past deeds. Last time, at the parking area of the temple, there is a stage where Chinese opera is performed. That day when I went back, I did not notice the stage. It could mean that this event is canceled for good or…the performers kicked the bucket. I mean, how often do you see younger generation these days TALKING about Chinese opera, not to mention taking up Chinese opera classes. It’s not surprising that this traditional performance is already extinct, at least in this festival, which is quite sad cuz I still remember distinctively how it looked like. I also remember there’s a aunty selling sweets of ALL KINDS! Tora, Choki-choki, Ding Dong, some weird M&M look-alike in silver foil case that’s shaped like a mask, sweet that looks like quail’s egg, etc. And another stall selling traditional Chinese sweet, not sure what’s the name of it but it’s terribly sweet, served in a stick and hard to chew.
Beside the temple there’s a hall. In this particular season, the hall is rented out to people who wishes to stay there. Some, like my grand-aunts, is working there and mind you, the place is open 24 hrs. So they will take turns to work. Some of them stays there to pray.
Although it wasn’t enough but I’ve had my serving of red bean soup and tortoise & peach buns which are so so so yummy! They don’t only taste good, but brings back so much childhood memories to me ^_^. I’ve heard that Ampang also has a temple that celebrates this festival. But since PJ also has a huge load of Chinese, why can’t I see any of the temples celebrating this festival? Where are the tortoises?! I really hope to get them here…
P.S: The tortoise buns are best served French toast style.
